Forum: Who qualify as a world class bioinformatician as seen in job ads

I see in many bioinformatics position ads, the need for world-class bioinformatician. It would be good to know who qualifies as a world-class bioinformatician.

world-class bioinformatician qualification

a world-class bioinformatician would give us some examples of such ad :P

I wonder if Perl coders do...

Of course, Perl bioinformaticians are qualified by default ;)

@lieven.sterck I'm not a bioinformatician, I'm a virologist :-P

There are probably as many definitions as there are hiring committees.

I believe it means the person has worked (physically/remotely) in international teams/projects, but as pointed before, it depends on the committee's definition

I think it means the PI doesn't quite know what they need, but they want to sound like their work is cutting-edge.

This is true. In general, they throw kitchen sink requirements.
