No question is too trivial or too "newbie".

We recommend that you make use of the search function to see if your question has already been asked (perhaps even answered!) before you ask.

But if you end up asking a question that has been asked before, that is fine too. Other users will hopefully provide links to related or similar questions to help future visitors find their way.

Moderation Policy

Moderators keep the site usable and welcoming: apply rules fairly, guide newcomers, and resolve problems with minimal friction.

If a discussion turns heated, deescalate: stay calm, focus on behavior and content, avoid personal remarks. When in doubt, step back or ask another moderator.

Prefer the lightest intervention that works. Explain decisions when helpful, leave room to correct course, treat mistakes with patience.

When you create an account we store the information you provide, such as email and profile details, plus your posts, messages, and technical logs needed to run and secure the site.

We use this to operate Biostar: show profiles and posts, send account notices, moderate content, and understand site usage.

If you delete your profile, your profile details become invisible. Content you created is anonymized.
