Best approach for miRNA-seq when species is not in miRBase
Hi all,
I am working with small RNA-seq data from Mesocricetus auratus (Syrian hamster) and noticed that it is not available as a standard species in miRBase.
What would be the best way to proceed with miRNA analysis in this case? Would you recommend:
If anyone has experience working with hamster miRNA data or a similar case, I would really appreciate your suggestions on the most reliable approach.
Thank you in advance for your help!

While syrian hamster may not be in the miRBase, it looks like there is a recent paper that appears to have identified 20K+ miRNA. See --> https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC11931762/
Do you have your own miRNA data or are you looking to get practical guidance on how to do miRNA sequencing.
