Need help regarding miRNA data analysis

Hi,

I am currently working on miRNA data and have completed all the analyses using known miRNAs. Based on these, I have written a manuscript.

However, I am facing difficulties when it comes to novel miRNAs, particularly with the naming issue, which prevents me from conducting DEmiRNA analysis. I am struggling to determine the appropriate processing approach for these novel miRNAs.

Should I simply report that we have identified a specific number of novel miRNAs, providing additional details, or do you recommend conducting further analysis on the novel miRNAs?

I would greatly appreciate any ideas or suggestions you can provide to help me submit this paper.

Thank you

Here you can read how miRBase names novel miRNAs: https://www.mirbase.org/help/nomenclature.shtml

For the sake of differential expression, I would suggest just giving them putative names (putmir-1, putmir-2 ... for example). It would be nice if you provide all the info you can on these novel miRNAs and the evidence that supports their existence. After publication, you can submit them to miRBase and they will take care of the naming :)
