How Long Should It Take To Make A Blast Database?
Hi there,
It's been some time since this question was made and I would like to know how fast the latest version from makeblastdb is.
I have a 104.9 MB fasta-formatted file with nucleotide sequences, the corresponding file with masking information (made with dustmasker) is 3.8 MB. I am running NCBI-BLAST-2.2.25+ in MacOS X 2.66 GHz Intel Core i7 with 4GB 1067 MHz DDR3.
The process with makeblastdb is taking 100% of the CPU and has been running for a bit more than an hour.
I would appreciate hearing your about your experience with this latest version.
