Bioinformatics Project this summer

Can we do a BIOINFORMATICS project online? like like a project on Next-gen and Drug designing online. I am presently in my third year of B.E. biotechnology and wish to learn in this field. I have worked on Next-gen for disease identification before

next-gen rna-seq sequencing gene genome

I would consult your course tutor / course head lecturer.

sounds weird to me. You will always require "human" mentorship. Of course, you can develop something, come up with a tool or a software but then you need guidance which your mentors can provide.

You can work remotely. You can contact a mentor by video chat and meet them once a week/two weeks or whatever.

Do you have the recommended hardware and software for whatever project you want to work under? NGS data analysis requires a lot of computational power, but this again depends on whatever organism you're working on. Other types of analyses may be fine on a personal computer.

I would suggest you do a summer project at a lab if you can. You get to meet new people, sit for lectures or workshops, etc. all of which will help you decide your future career path.
