Hello fellow-mates!
A little background on myself - I'm a biotechnology student and my final year of graduation is about to begin in an year. Being a biotechnology student, I study all branches that it comprises viz. molecular biology, genomics, proteomics, Recombinant DNA tech (RDT), Transgenics, Bioinformatics etc.
The students of my course have to do a project in final year and that's usually in subjects like molecular biology, food technology or RDT etc. But I'm very much inclined towards bioinformatics and probably will be the only one (in the history of my university) doing a project in it and I'm quite excited about it too. Yayy!! Basically I plan on pursuing a career in bioinformatics and I really think that doing a final year project in it will help me a lot both to test my capability and to show my interest to my future employers or further study.
So, (question) anyways, I was wondering if any of you people could help me think of any project idea. Any suggestions, opinions etc would be appreciated. Thanks.
P.S. - Please keep in mind while suggesting something that I'm only a beginner. Though I'm planning or learning Perl and maybe, Python too. Please suggest me what main stuff should I be studying or covering up before I could start a project on bioinformatics.
(Also, please don't ask me to ask my professor 'cause I'd have asked if I had one. We have only a part-time faculty for bioinformatics. :| )
