Since I have started studying Master's of Bioinformatics, I have ran into a lot of problems (coming to Bioinformatics with a Bachelor of Computer Science), therefore, grasping some topics has been a tough task for me. I am looking for books/resources that will help me learn the concepts/topics I am looking for. I have already Google'd a lot of things I have been looking for, but haven't found anything of value for a complete beginner. For instance, I haven't been able to find a proper source for teaching me how to calculate the CAI index, Odds Ratio, Viterbi, etc.
Any help, therefore, will be much appreciated.

Trust me, there are people who are completely clueless about a thing. Like myself. But as a biologist I'd like to help you as I can.
Do you have any experience with biological concepts?
If not, I'd recommend the several Coursera courses available. Or Jones and Pevzner's book "An introduction to Bioinformatics Algorithms".
Why not try your hand at some bioinformatic exercises?
