I'm a master student who research interest is bioinformatics. I've read several paper and I think I have interest in bisulfite sequencing for methylation detection. So, I want to have your opinion about what is the hot topics that maybe I can help in my research studies. My background is in computer science so I imagine my research would be about implementing an algorithm for Bsseq data analysis. I welcome every opinion from you because I'm still really newbie and need a suggestion in this path. Thank you.

I imagine that writing an aligner that makes native and efficient use of hadoop would be nice. If you could package that to work easily on AWS then you'd get a nice paper out of it.
