Forum: Looking For Bioinformatics Job In Germany

Hi everyone,

I'm master student of bioinformatics. I have good background in biological science and also solid knowledge in machine learning and statistical learning. In my master thesis, I worked with NGS data at Germany. Currently I'm looking form bioinformatics jobs at Germany, but I don't have any idea where to apply for job at Germany.

Does anyone can help me?

What's our policy with these kinds of questions, please let us clarify. I think the post cannot stay as a post of type question, because then it is off-topic.

Maybe it should be in "Forum"? I agree that it shouldn't be kept as a regular question. Putting it in "Jobs" would also seem off-topic.

I think it could be both Forum or Job type as well. While just about all Jobs are position that are offered one should be able to look for a job here as well. As long as it is on topic.

Great, I'll remember that once I am seeking a new job ;)

Are we including PhD positions? As Michael mentioned, the job market for professional bioinformaticians in Germany is...not that great. There are more jobs to be had in Boston or SF than the whole country (this remains true if we combine Germany with Austria and Switzerland), so you with a masters degree are competing in a crowded market against others with PhDs.

I'm looking for research oriented job. so PhD would be great.

Then I would recommend a Ph.D. program, such as that from MPG.

A starting point, unfortunately not all jobs are announced there: http://www.nature.com/naturejobs/science/jobs?qualifications%5B%5D=Postgraduate+-+Master%27s+degree&q=bioinformatics&where=germany plus http://jobsuche.monster.de/Suche/?q=Bioinformatik and also try http://www.glassdoor.com, linkedin, etc., etc.

Nice that you want to work in Germany, even though there are not so many bioinformatics openings compared to other countries. You must improve your spelling and grammar for your application though, if there are obvious mistakes ("at Germany", "bioinformatiks". "bioinformatic", "Does anyone can help me?" ), your application will be sorted out immediately.

Maybe you are still looking for a phd position.

Here are some universities with special groups in bioinformatics (the ordering is random).

Best is you look at the group and/or on the university websites.

There are more, but either i forgot them or never heard of them (i am german Bioinformatiker ;) )
