Use Your Sequencing Expertise to Advance Forensic Science

The Philadelphia Police Department’s Office of Forensic Science is seeking experienced molecular biology and sequencing professionals to help expand a new forensic DNA sequencing program.

This opportunity is particularly relevant for scientists with hands-on experience using Illumina NextSeq 2000 or MiSeq i100 Series platforms, as well as professionals with expertise in next-generation sequencing workflows, library preparation, assay optimization, quality assurance, sequencing data evaluation, whole-genome amplification, or genetic genealogy laboratory methods.

A special experience substitution broadens the pathway into forensic science. Qualifying experience in DNA sequencing, whole-genome amplification, or laboratory methods related to genetic genealogy, gained in academia, private industry, or an equivalent forensic science setting, may substitute year-for-year for traditional forensic biology examiner or forensic scientist experience.
