Regarding Bioinformatics, Computational Biology Graduate School programs and jobs

Hello Everyone!

A Happy New Year

I am Chandrima a Graduate of Pharmacy, from India. I am very new to this group.

I am looking for a mentor who can give some advice career advice.

I am new to Computational Biology/Bioinformatics and have developed an interest in this field. Having said that I have worked in the tools usage and analysis front but have not worked in developing analysis pipelines because I have deficiencies in the computer science front like programming languages, algorithms, as such, on which I am working through online courses.

In the long run, I want to have a full-time career as bioinformatician (specialist). However, I have some hurdles at present. I do not have very academic credentials, and can be determined to be poor i.e., 5.93/10 and GRE 303 V-141 Q-162. I got very limited research exposure (mostly self-designed) may be due to my academics or any research assistant position.

So, I thought that getting a Master help me get to overcome my barrier. But I am now concerned if I can get admitted to a decent Graduate school (in the USA or Belgium or Canada) with my academic credentials. I do not want to leave the career path of Bioinformatics.

So I am looking for a mentor who can provide some lead or guidance to overcome my hurdles
