Time taken for MEGAN analysis

Hello, I would like to know the time taken for megan analysis. I have uploaded the .sam file almost 48-50 hours back(whole genome metagenome) and still the analysis is not complete. I would like to know if normally such a long time is taken and if so, how much time.

Don't think anyone can answer this because of to many variables (file size, computer specs). What you can do is check if MEGAN is still doing something or not. Think you can see this with htop or in windows the task manager.

Another thing with MEGAN is that you can adjust the amount of memory it should use. If you installed it quick, and did not paid attention at the installation wizard it is possible it is to low. I know you can adjust it by changing a config file somewhere but can't remember where that file is located. You can also reinstall: http://megan.informatik.uni-tuebingen.de/t/more-memory-windows/46
