mutually exclusive expression of two genes

I want to show that expression of two genes is mutually exclusive. One way is showing a negative correlation in expression. Is there any other alternative way that I can show such exclusivity of two genes expression pattern for publication purposes?

Why not just plot the expression of one gene on the X axis and the other on Y? If they are mutex they might both be 0 which might break the correlation
