' The cancer type is not available for this platform.' error using tcgaR package to download DNA methylation data

I'm trying to use tcgaR package to download methyaltion data from TCGA. Unfortunately every time I use the getTCGA() function it throws this error:

Error in .getTCGA.meth(cancer = cancer, platform = platform, verbose = verbose, : The cancer type is not available for this platform.

I checked the package documentation and all the instructions seemed straight forward and I didn't find anyway to fix this problem. Can anyone help me fixing this problem, please?

I've just found that the package is deprecated!.
