Any detailed guides to cancer survival analysis for beginners?

Hi all, I'm just beginning to work in the field of bioinformatics and have recently started a project on survival analysis of certain genes in cancer. I have basic knowledge of statistics and cancer biology but while I have been reading up on how to conduct my research I have come across a lot of scattered new terms such as Kaplan Meier curves, etc. which have really confused me. So I was wondering if any pros out there could suggest or link a more simplistic guide that covers most or all important points and concepts that are specific to cancer survival analysis. Thanks in advance
