I m looking for an up to 6 month Internship. January of 2016 would be the ideal time for me to start. Countries outside Europe is not an option.
Hi
I m currently an undergraduate student in the Department of Biology Applicattions and Technology, in Greece. The last year of my studies I decided to follow Bioinformatics. I've been practicing on Matlab and Bayesian Networks and lately on Perl scripting. Now I'm searching for interships (traineeships) through the Erasmus+ programm.
Are there Internships in Bioinformatics? On an institute or a university? How can I find them?
I would greatly appreciate any suggestions made.
Thanks!

Please provide the duration for which you are looking for an internship.
Some Max Plank Institutes, Germany, hosts students for 3 months summer internship.
EPFL in Switzerland host for 10 weeks.
Austria: http://www.vbcphdprogramme.at/summer-school/
Sanger Institute, UK
Several Institutions in US as well, like CSHL.
There definitely are internship opportunities in the field of Bioinformatics (or in the fields that involve Bioinformatics). I would recommend you to look for work experience within your institution (as well as other universities). Search for a lab/research group, have a look at their current projects, and recent publications. Write an e-mail to a PI; introduce yourself, express your research interests, and ask them if they are available for a meeting to discuss their research. That’s what I did when I was looking for a placement.
Here’s a list (+ description) of research groups working at the EBI: http://www.ebi.ac.uk/research/groups I hope this helps :)

In short for Erasmus+:
The interested student should apply to the international office and/or Erasmus+ office of his or her sending higher education institution. The office will inform him or her of the possibilities of studying abroad as well as the modalities to apply and to receive an Erasmus+ EU grant.
