Fungal Genome Sequencing

Can we do fungal whole genome sequencing using Illumina MiSeq? We want to perform resequencing of 8 Candida albicans strains.The size of the genome is 14Mb

Yes, you can resequence anything with Illumina MiSeq. Some fungi are kind of repetitive, in which case it's best to use the longest possible insert size (~800bp) and read lengths (250 or 300bp PE). But a 14Mb fungus shouldn't be too repetitive... so it should be very straightforward.

Thanks Brian, We have the Nextera XT kit in house, which gives a maximum insert size of ~500 bp. As 14 Mb should not be too repetitive we can use it for the lib preps.
