Massive Bio is a bioinformatics software startup specializing in clinical decision support systems (CDSS) for the diagnosis and treatment of genetic diseases like cancer.

We are seeking a Software Engineer or Bioinformatician to develop automated pipelines that process and interpret massive amounts of DNA data from next-generation sequencing (NGS).

This person will be part time or contractor initially but depending upon the quality of the individual we will hire the person full time in the next couple of months with attractive benefits.

Responsibilities:

• Design and develop open-source software modules for various steps in a standard bioinformatics pipeline
• Manage databases for sample, sequence, and pipeline metadata
• Develop web-service tools and user-interfaces for visualizing results
• Test and benchmark performance, ease-of-use, and reliability of external NGS software and tools
• Work closely with colleagues and collaborators that include bioinformaticians, molecular geneticists, cancer biologists, and oncologists to provide technical support, and participate in the diagnostic pipeline development life cycle

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Computational Biology, Bioinformatics, or other related field. Master's degree preferred
• 1-3 years of experience in software engineering, bioinformatics, database management, web user-interfaces, and data visualization
• Strong cross-disciplinary/analytical skills, and a basic understanding or interest in cancer genetics
• Experience with Posix, Python, Java, Perl, and SQL required
• Experience with UI frameworks such as Django/Flask for Python, GWT/JSF/Spring for Java, JavaScript, CSS/HTML
• NYC based candidates are preferred
