I'm establishing a reference panel currently for a study doing some local ancestry calculations. I have the 1000 G project data, as well as the POPRES data, and I'm attempting to merge the two to create the total reference panel. I have a few questions about this:

1) Is merging these two independent references for a combined reference correct and the right way to go?

2) How would I merge the two? Would I need to find their intersection or union, and how would I do each?
