Previously mentioned Perltuts do work as of today. Alternative interactive resource that might be useful is tryperl.pl

Hi I've started with Unix and Perl Primer for Biologists by Keith Bradnam and Ian Korf and only then found the next book. It was Genomic Perl reviewed by Tyler Branon (dissertation writer).
