Forum: Where Has The Forum Gone?

Says it all..., a question I would otherwise post in the..... forum xD, so feel free to close.

I had the same issue/question recently - it's possible to add a post to the forum i.e. it's one of the "post type" options when posting a new message, but I haven't found a way of filtering posts to show only those assigned to the forum.

The forum was cut out because visually it would not fit anymore and something had to go. We can add it back in some manner if people find having an easy access to the generic forum desirable

If it were possible to choose/filter posts from a scroll-down menu (in addition to the current set of tabs, perhaps loosing one more of them to make place for such a menu) then this might be a way of accommodating the "forum" in a way that doesn't take up too much space visually.

I would like to have the possibility to filter for 'forum' content, easiest by a link. I liked the forum for being a visible place for 'meta' discussions about biostar in contrast to the google-group or the ticket system. As it is now, it feels like only 50% of the forum functionality is there.
