Salary insights for Bioinformatics Data Analyst at clinical research lab in Boston?
Hi,
I has MS degree in Bioinformatics and currently in the late phase of application for a Bioinformatics(Data Analyst) position at a big Hospital research lab in Boston. I assume it is PI directly recruiting and he has multiple NIH fundings. How much should I expect for the salary? I am afraid the salary will be lower than postdoc doing wet lab, which is around 45k.
Thank you in advance.

Are you being recruited as staff or post-doc (academic position titles can be fluid so may not actually reflect the level at which job is)? If the funding comes from NIH there should be strict guidelines on salaries, in addition to institutional rules. You can ask the HR for a salary range associated with the position. It would be a valid follow-up question.
Thank you for replying. Really appreciate it. I am being recruited by PI I think. I am about to meet him in person after second round meeting (you know during this pandemic, i do not think he would like to meet in person if he does not want me). I do not know if I will meet with the hospital HR or not. Someone told me PI will give me the offer and he has power to do that.
That seems rather odd. PI may verbally give you an offer but only HR likely has the institutional authority to send you the paperwork with offer. Everyone has different circumstances so no doubt you have your own constraints but you will have to be ready to negotiate, if you feel that you are not being offered a fair salary.
Sure. You are definitely right. Thanks!
Oh, I am being recruited as staff. Sorry to forgot to mention.
