Hello everybody

Given that it is said that generally unlike protein-coding genes, which are usually conserved across the species, most lncRNAs are poorly conserved. Is it possible to identify lncrna based on conservation in other species with tools such as Blast? Or this methods are not ok.! Or if we blast one of the predicted lncrna sequence (by cpc, cnti, ...) from a new species against the lncrna database and dont find no hit for that. can we say that this is not the lncrna sequence? Thank you

as you said: poorly conservated -> blast will not find any hit
