Recently I had an online interview with [censored name] in [censored institution], a post doc student there. This was a very strange interview where interviewer was sleeping in bed under the blanket. Additionally, he postponed this interview three times for almost a month just to say that I am not suitable for a job. During our conversation, he said that he wanted to tell about the rejection personally that why he did not wrote to me. But my question is why to postpone the interview for one month when he had to say no. Is this some cultural issue in Germany or I am getting hyped. I never had an interview where interviewer was sleeping in bed. This is for the first time I faced that. I feel this is a sort of disrespect for me. I wrote to that professor about this behaviour but I think professor feel there is no problem and thus he has not replied.
What do you think as a researcher, if the same thing happened with you during an interview. Please suggest so that I may be aware from next time

Removing student and institution name is okay. My intention is to ask researchers if this situation may happens during interview in Germany or just a cultural shock for me . Because I am very much worried to attend my next interview because in India this type of behavior is considered shame and disrespect. I think asking suggestion about the interview behavior is okay with this site as I found many such question. Or because this incident happened in Germany, that's why you are closing this question.
Its okay, if you close this question. However, if the same thing happens with you what would you do. If you close this question, I will consider that this type of behaviour is common practice in Germany and I will be aware that next time I may find interviewer on toilet seat. so I will be alert :p. This is acceptance of disrespect. But sorry to say, we Indian are more advance in this way and i feel proud of it.

It's not normal, but what can Biostars do? The user should contact the HR Department of the university in question.
I am just asking for suggestion because I thought this might be some cultural issue and i am new to this. In USA, UK and other countries, I didn't faced this type of behavior. so was bit shocked. But now I can think, this is a ill-behavior of the post doc student. Yes, I will write to HR department and let see if i can get something positive there.
Kevin what do mean by what biostar will do. Recently I have seen a forum in biostar where author is asking to start a petition or sometime discussion about some other off topic. What do u think is this right place to discuss that same. ..
Thank you for this delicious insight. I can tell you it's not normal to have job interviews in bed, however, what is normal these days? Don't think the story is sufficient to build a clash of cultures though, it would just come out as who had the worst manners. I can assure you I would never do that despite everyone is in home office. It might happen that I attend a zoom meeting without shaving though :)
@Michael, I am sorry if you think this is funny and a story. If you want i can post the Image of the mail which I have sent to the professor. Might be professor is thinking the same like you and thats why he did not replies. This type of ignorance only lead to molestation, abuse and sexual assault at work place. @Micheal what would you do if the same incident happens to your daughter or sister or any female member of your family. Will you still reply the same. Will you accept it. If yes, then I am sorry. I might have started discussion at wrong place. @ATpoint, this is the point, why i tried to keep that student name. Michale is this your reply. This may be a serious issue. Like covid 19, at first complete europe made fun but in the end you can see the situation. If you dont want to comment just leave it. Bit no joke. Have u forgetten the #metoo movement. How courage of one brave lady change the complete scenario. Aloke is a man and dont forget men are also abused, faces sexual assualt. So refrain from making fun. And aloke i can understand your situation. Its better you contact HR of the concerned university or organisation.

Leaping from "prof gave me an interview while they were in bed" to "this kind of attitude leads to sexual abuse" borders on libelous to my mind.
Is it unusual? Yes. But with everyone in self isolation from COVID right now it's somewhat more understandable (though in my view does not excuse it). I would be glad they had the decency to turn you down 'in person' at least
It is highly unlikely that this is cultural, so if I were you I would chalk it up to experience, and move on. Contacting their HR department is unlikely to do you any favours, and since you didn't get the position, nothing of value was lost here.
Then why not a mail.. why video call 🙄. Nothing of value was lost there.. what do you mean by that.. .. do you call every individual guy whom you want to reject.?
None of us know why the prof didn't turn you down by email, and why they chose to be in bed while they did so.

It would be odd, but I would get over it almost immediately and then take great joy in telling people this strange and amusing story.
