the size of vcf file phased

Hello to all,

I have a VCF file of approximately 3 GB as an input file for phasing with the Beagle. This VCF file contains 28 chromosome information. So, we will have 28 output file for 28 chromosomes after phasing. My question here is that the total size of my 28 output files is 240 MB and is approximately 1/10 of the size of the input file. Is this the correct size or I have made mistakes in processing ??

Hello Sir, So that you can check for mistakes, you should take a look at your results to see if they conform to the expected results for Beagle. To determine the expected results for Beagle, you should take a look at the documentation / manual for the program. There is a lot of information 'packed' into the VCF format - it is quite possible that only a fraction of this is of interest to Beagle.
