Processor count for cores with Intel hyper-threading in differentialGeneTest()

The documentation for Monocle 2 discusses the use of multiple cores for differential gene expression. Will I be able to use each virtual core on a hyper-threaded processor? For instance, if I had an 8-core Xeon W, would I be able to make the following call:

differentialGeneTest(<params>, cores=14)

It would depend on your particular processor and BIOS settings, but:

1) if you have an 8-core Intel processor capable of hypertheading (incidentally, Intel page for Intel Xeon W processors lists no processors with 8 cores);

2) hypertheading enabled on your BIOS;

then yes, you would be able to use all available threads with the parameter cores.
