Any suggestion for sanger sequencing result editing

Hi everyone,

I just do bi-directional sanger sequencing of my PCR products. I wonder if there is any free software can do the following things 1. check the chromatogram of sequencing results 2. edit the basecalling reads manually 3. automatically align forward and reverse reads, and do the 1. and 2. in one operation window.

Thanks.

We recently set up the web application Indigo that can analyze Sanger traces and aligns them to a reference genome or wildtype chromatogram. The standalone command-line version has a couple more features like dumping the whole Sanger trace as a tab delimited file so you can then indeed edit basecalls manually. If there is some feature missing just open an issue in the github repository of Indigo.

Staden can, but there is a learning curve.
