Hello everyone, I was a PhD student at one university and had to transfer (or withdraw). I am currently a PhD student in another university. I have a couple of papers coming out from my previous university where I developed some bioinformatics algorithms. I had used some data from my previous university to tes these algorithms. There are other 2 co-authors in these manuscripts. My question is since I joined a new university and have been working on a similar project, can I include these papers in my PhD dissertation? Is there any possibility for conflict of interest if I want to include these papers in my dissertation that I am working on at my current university? Can I add my affiliations to both universities in the manuscript and then include these papers in my dissertation or does it need to be approved by the thesis committee ? Please clarify. Thanks!

This is something you really should ask your university/thesis committee. How are we supposed to know what you can do at "one university" or "another university"?
