News: StarCluster based on Ubuntu 13.04
Hi there,
I was trying to set up an an Amazon Web Services -based HPC for my institution.
I started out with an AMI from StarCluster based on Ubuntu 13.04.
However, a lot of things failed, such as apt-get.
This is because support for Ubuntu 13.04 has been discontinued (many http links are broken).
Hope people would keep this in mind.
Good luck.

There is no good reason for any server installation to be based on an obsolete distribution. Instead, use recent stable releases of the distro, and choose a LTS version of the release if you don't have much time to spend for upgrades. This is valid for any Debian, RHEL, BSD and other distributions.
