Forum: Typical costs for RNA-Seq analysis
This is kind of the wrong place to post this question given that we are all analysts who do the work (mostly at universities) rather than sending it out. But I would like to know what companies that do analysis that is out-sourced generally charge. Consider an experiment such as this--three biological replicates, each with three samples:

Well, I guess I can't justify it any further than to say it has to do with the professional aspects of being a bioinformatics analyst. Perhaps we would like to know whether we are being adequately paid, or want to make a proposal to start a program. This is information we would need. But I admit it isn't a bioinformatics question per se.
You could consult GenoHub bioinformatics marketplace to get an idea. There is also AllSeq.
Looking at the first link, it's not very real-world informative. The prices range over an order of magnitude from $17/hour to $170/hour, and from $100/sample to $500/sample. AllSeq appears to be one of those services like if you search for "price for insurance" you get a website that tells you it will get you a free estimate. You enter your information and then you get 20 phone calls from companies wanting to sell you insurance.
The informed opinion of someone in the field would be more useful.
You could search core facility websites since some of them will list pricing (sequencing for sure, for bioinformatics it may be $N/hr (external clients, would hike that the rate up) or you would just get, talk to us).
Now I am guilty of cross-posting but since you commented here my answer from SA:
The devil is always going to be in the details. If you can't get a list of deliverables (for a quoted price) then all bets are off.
Sorry, I thought it was again about the sequencing costs. I think this can be in forum.
Would the company also do the sequencing? We once got a similar analysis for free though the company initially listed around 50 usd (following sequencing)
