Forum: Automated [position-closed] tag?

Automatically add "position-closed" in the title, once the "position closing date" has passed?

That would require to create "Closing Date" input box for Job type posts.

Also, maybe adding "position-closed" in the title to posts that are already 3,6 months old?

We can't auto-close jobs without knowing that the job was indeed filled. That task is the responsibility of the poster, they should at least mention deadlines in the job description.

We have to rely on the applicant's judgment to assess each situtation in its own context

How about checking the "closing date" in the post, and if has passed, mark it as "closed" or notify the poster?

The problem with that is that post closing has a negative connotation here and elsewhere as well. Closing a post means that it is off topic and is a form of negative interaction. I understand the desire to better communicate the state of each job posting - but I urge a lot of caution - what makes sense to you and I might not make sense to everyone else and could have a negative effect.

What is the problem that needs to be solved really? That the job is not open anymore? That should be the job poster' responsibility to update that information either here or on the location where the job is posted. It is of course frustrating to click a link only to find that the job is already filled - but when it comes to frustrations when applying for jobs - that is merely the tip of the iceberg.

I don't think closing means negative connotation, for me at least it means, not relevant anymore. In case of Job-ads, if position is gone then with automation "little" frustration could be avoided. Agreed, maybe this is too little of a frustration to qualify as a problem that needs solving, thanks for response.
