Forum: Bioinformatics in Philippines

Good day,

I am a graduate of Computer Engineering (Philippines). I am currently looking for an opportunity to pursue my studies concentrating on Bioinformatics. My country has a limited offering of such course, I got MS Comp Science major in Bioinformatics (got two core courses concentrating in bioinformatics) all other courses are more on Computing sides; MS Health Informatics (from U.P. Manila - in case some members here are from this campus); I prefer the MS H.I. but i barely got any knowledge regarding the the university's policy, like do I have to take the course considering that I have the same course taken before (in my undergrad). I am from Laguna and the nearest U.P. here is Los Banos, for those who happened to be an alumni there, are there any bioinformatics specialization there?

Thank you

Currently, UPLB does not have a specialized curriculum for a Bioinformatics Program but it offers courses like MBB 211 ((Biocomputing in Molecular Biology and Biotechnology). The Institute of Computer Science (ICS)-UPLB has some faculty doing Bioinformatics research so you can pursue graduate program with focus on Bioinformatics. ICS also has collaboration with the Bioinformatics Group of the International Rice Research Institute.
