Server not found, Firefox can't find the server www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov.

Hey all,

I have a big problem since yesterday. Without any evident reason my computer doesn't connect to NCBI www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov) no more. No pop-ups opening, i am using firefox and i have tried also other browsers such as Ubuntu browser and Opera. In my same network other computers can access to it. No solution for the moment. NCBI is the only website i could not connect.

Could somebody tell me the reason? Thank you so much in advance

browser ncbi connection problems

Its not about firefox, either firewall or your internal proxy(if you are using one) is not getting you thru the connection.

Check

1) Other sites are working? + Clear cache

2) Try in terminal or CMD prompt, ping ncbi.nlm.nih.gov, what is the output?

1) others sites are working. Don't have permission to clear the cache with sync; echo 1 > /proc/sys/vm/drop_caches

2) ping ncbi.nlm.nih.gov ping: unknown host ncbi.nlm.nih.gov

You're having some sort of weird DNS issue. Anyway, this is outside the scope of biostars. Contact your internet service provider.

You're apparently having a local network issue. Call your IT folks.

Unfortunately No IT folks in here

After 3 weeks, without any clear reason, i was again welcomed on NCBI. Problem solved

Good to hear that, but I guess it's related to a DNS issue.
