how GWAS uses haplotype markers to identify candidate genes

Hi I'm new to GWAS and I just learned the concept of haplotype in class. I kinda know who people use SNPs to conduct association studies, but how GWAS uses haplotupe makers to identity candidate genes? Thanks!!
