Genome browser for website (ASP.net)

Hello

I wanted to design a website for presenting variation data on human genome. I found number of open source genome browsers but most of them are developed for linux, PHP or JAVA not ASP.

Does anyone know which genome browser I could use in a ASP.NET website?

Thanks a lot

proprietary software is not very popular in bioinformatics, we have a very strong open-source culture in bioinformatics, therefore I would guess that such software doesn't exist. In the scenario you describe, I further suggest to change your perspective, choose the optimal tool and stack for the required application case, not let secondary aspects guide your technological choices. An open source stack can be set up as easy as any other stack.

Once you have an overview of the available options, including setting up a stack, vs. implementing the browser from scratch, you can weight these and reach an informed decision.

On a related note, did you know .NET and ASP.NET are now open source?

Honestly I didn't follow this, thanks for the info. The reluctance to embrace commercial products or product from companies like microsoft might be sometimes undue even. There is not much to argue against using a ready-to-use genome browser for .net if it existed, or against to develop one.

I used to be a C# programmer. They have amazing concepts, concepts I have seen analogs of only in SQL and UNIX. They can be of tremendous value if they become entirely open source.

What about Genoverse ? It's back-end agnostic being written in HTML5 and javascript.
