How to find the duration between the dates in longitudinal data?

Data type: Longitudinal

Observations: Multiple observations for one patient id (for repeated hospital visit)

Each observation has START and END date of treatment

Que: How to find the DURATION of the treatment for each patient based on multiple observations using SATRT and END date of the treatment!

This is not a bioinformatics question, but a question on date calculus in sas, better chances to get a serous answer on stackoverflow. However, this is seemingly homework.
