From where can I get a graph representing no. of biomedical publications that are being published each year up to 2015? (especially publications related to mutations, genes and proteins). Or even no. of publications in databases like Pubmed, PMC, PMC Open Central etc?

Using eutils:

seq 1900 2015 | while read Y; do echo -n "$Y " && curl -s "http://eutils.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/entrez/eutils/esearch.fcgi?db=pubmed&term=${Y}%5BPDAT%5D&retmode=xml&rettype=count" | xmllint --xpath '/eSearchResult/Count/text()' -  && echo ; done
