Please give me some career advice

Hi guys,

I am in dilemma with the career choice I have. I have a MS degree in biostatistics and I am looking for a PhD position. I have heard from some of my friends that I can go for PhD in bioinformatics, but due to overwhelming competition and funding issues in the field, I am a bit reluctant to choose this field. I am rather more interested in the field of economics and want to pursue my PhD degree in economics. Any advice or comments on this?
