Replace discontinued genes by the new ones programaticaly
In the NCBI gene site, some discontinued genes have a link to a new corresponding gene.
For example: 12429 (entrez ID) in http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/gene/12429 has a link to 268697 (entrez ID) in http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/gene/268697
Given a list of Entrez IDs of genes and discontinued genes, is there a way of replacing the IDs of discontinued genes by the corresponding new IDs programatically?
