What Does R/S Refer To In These Rna-Seq Files?
Hello everyone,
I went through GEO fishing for RNA-seq datasets to play with and I came through this one
In the download section there is mentioned :
GSM754335_R_RNA_GM12878.bam.gz
GSM754335_S_RNA_GM12878.bam.gz
Does R/S refer to PLUS and MINUS strand ?
Thank you
rna

This seems like a question for the Gerstein lab.
Thanks ! Done will provide you with answer if anyone will ask the same question and then close it.
My guess, since they are trying to construct a diploid genome to look at SNPs, is that R and S might be "reference" and "snp", like when R/S is used for dbSNP accessions. Just a wild guess, could be totally wrong!
