Classification of Bioinformatics in different countries

What is the classification of bioinformatics in different countries? Is it in CS or Bio? Should it be offered at the undergraduate level?

For the US bioinformatics is an interdisciplinary/interdepartmental subject. While this paper (https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC2859255/ ) is not recent, the following classification likely holds true.

  • Interdisciplinary / interdepartmental: ~37%
  • Biology / life sciences departments: ~21%
  • Computer science / information science: ~13%
  • Medical schools / health sciences: ~10%

According to AI, internationally this classification is also applicable (though some specific countries may be exceptions). The interdisciplinary category actually may represent a higher % than in US.
