What is the difference between JASPAR IDs MA0668.3 and MA1993.2 for Neurod2?

I was looking into the JASPAR database for transcription factor binding motifs related to Neurod2, and I found two ids:

  1. MA0668.3
  2. MA1993.2

Both IDs correspond to the same transcription factor (Neurod2), and both versions (MA0668.3 and MA1993.2) seem to be derived from Mus musculus based on the sequence data and logos. However:

MA0668.3 is not clearly labeled as mouse in all its versions (e.g., MA0668.1 is from Homo sapiens while MA0668.3 and MA1993.2 are from Mus musculus) and I'm confused why MA0668.3 still uses the same base ID (MA0668.3) despite changing species across versions, while MA1993 is consistently labeled mouse.

So my questions are:

  1. What is the exact difference between these two IDs (MA0668.3 vs MA1993.2)?
  2. Why does MA0668.3 (version 3) (Mouse) still use the same base ID as earlier versions labelled as Human?

Any clarification on how JASPAR handles these version/species would be really helpful!
