Unable to register for MG-RAST
I have been trying to register for MG-RAST since past many months but i never get the mail from them. I need to analyze some Whole metagenomic shotgun reads but i cant unless i have an account. Can somebody help me with it or tell me any alternatie way to do the things you can on MG-RAST ?

That can unfortunately happen to any service not properly funded. People and funding agencies need to understand that these services have essentially been offering valuable software, computation and support for free to the research community. This can only work as long as they receive funding from other sources.
You can only try to contact the helpdesk from time to time and check your spam folder or use alternative tools you can run locally such as MetaPhlan or Kraken. Or send an email of support to their previous funding agencies, because by shutting down funding they are sending the message they think the service is expendable.
I have tried contacting the helpdesk but havent been getting any response. Its a bit sad that a tool like MG-RAST is unable to gather enough funding for functioning.
I totally agree, it is particularly sad to watch, because other publications mention MG-RAST as one of the two largest metagenomics repositories, the other one being SRA. If you need a complete workflow rather than just a single tool IMG or the META-pipe workflow (just the Nextflow part of it, their computational service isn't working at the moment either).
