Mapping of OMA IDs to UniProtKB AC

I would like to ask about the mapping of gene sequences in the OMA database to UniProtKB AC. I noticed that not all OMA gene sequences seem to be cross-referenced with their UniProtKB AC. For instance, the OMA ID "IDESA00020" corresponds to the UniProtKB AC "A0A0K8NVL1," but there is no cross-reference noted.

Could you please clarify why some OMA IDs are not mapped to their respective UniProtKB AC, even when the sequences are present in UniProt? Additionally, is there a method to obtain a comprehensive mapping of all OMA IDs to UniProtKB AC?

Hi George,

there is a complete mapping between OMA IDs and UniProtKB in the download section of the OMA browser https://omabrowser.org/oma/current/ > Mapping to UniProt (https://omabrowser.org/All/oma-uniprot.txt.gz)

We try to include all the uniprot identifiers which have an exact sequence match within the same species. The case you mention seems indeed to be the identical sequence, so I would expect it to be present - but it isn't. I'm not sure why and will investigate on this. One reason could be that we changed the bacterial genomes to follow the GTDB Taxonomy.
