Difference between RNA Seq and Microarray

What is the difference between Microarray and RNA-seq Analysis methods? Why do we take one over the other?

microarray rna-seq

RNA-seq vs. Microarray

Why do we take one over the other?

Cost can certainly be one factor. Arrays are a proven technology and can still be cheaper option if one is happy with the design of the array. Illumina has some information/references at this link that compare microarray and RNAseq.

There are quite a few answers to this question. They measure expression in different ways (fluorescence vs counting), thus require different analysis methods. A simple google search on one vs the other brings up plenty of articles to pursue. Or you can use pubmed to find a comparison such as Comparison of RNA-Seq and Microarray...(2019), follow the references in that paper, or follow the "Similar Articles" section on pubmed.

Is this an assignment question? What have you searched for so far and what have you understood from whatever you've learned on this topic?
