Bigelow Laboratory for Ocean Sciences invites inquiries, nominations, and applications for the position of Vice President for Research (VPR). The VPR directs and guides the strategy and operations for the institution’s research and innovation. They provide administrative support, research guidance, and constructive counsel on research and proposal strategy to scientists at Bigelow to foster individual and institutional excellence.

The VPR serves as the Authorized Organizational Representative and Chief Compliance Officer to ensure the Laboratory’s commitment to compliance. The VPR works closely with the executive team: President & CEO, Vice President for Education, Vice President for Strategic Alliances and Advancement, Chief Financial Officer, Director of Human Resources, Chief Communications Officer, and Chief of Staff, as well as the IT and Facilities departments. The ability for an individual to serve as both VPR and maintain an independent research program will be considered.
