Hi, I know that BLASTX compares translated nucleotide sequence to protein. The gene we're interested in is in FASTA format from UniProt. I'm wondering can i just enter the FASTA sequence obtained directly into the query sequence box?
Yes, you can.
Separately, it is much faster to try it than to wait for an answer here. Nothing bad happens if you paste that sequence - worst case the results are not what you expected.
So I do not necessarily need to translate first before putting it into the BLASTX?
