This question is a little too vague for a meaningful answer. What is it that you would like to count? For what purpose are you counting it? You could say you have 2 insertions of size 6 and 16. Do you have reason to believe these insertions need some factorization? (for instance, if you have a process that inserts the dinucleotide TA and you need to count iterations per event).
