Lag after running local BLAST in versions 2.11 or later.

Hi, I found some weird behavior in the newest local blast versions (2.11 and 2.12). When launching any command (ej blastn -h) the output is fast but it takes a second to get out and show the prompt again.

I test this in my MacBook (with the version 2.12.0) and in my linux server (version 2.11.0) and is the same. And I test it with the previous version (2.10.1) and it didn't happen.

Can some one else test this?

It is very inconvenient because, I run consecutive blast searches and it takes a lot more than in the previous versions.

Not happening on a linux server. Are you using a M1 MacBook? On macOS the lag may be because of rosetta translating code at run time.

Yes I am using M1 Macbook but I try it in a linux server as well and have the same lag. The curious thing is that the versions 2.11.0 and 2.12.0 are native to ARM processors and have the lag. The version 2.10.1 it is not native running in Rosetta and doesn't have the lag.

Versions you mention are likely universal binaries that can be run on either intel or ARM processors. If they were native M1 binaries they would be separate files designated as such.
